The Vancouver-based firm Will & Perkins has been chosen by the City of Edmonton to transform the city centre airport into a sustainable, environmentally conscious, pedestrian and transit-friendly residential community!
Will & Perkins will be incorporating energy and water conservation technologies, and material sourcing and construction processes that will minimze the ecological footprint. This will be a mixed use area with sustainable housing, green space (including a community garden), and it will be transit-oriented.
The airport heritage of the community will still be preserved in the design, and there is a possibilty they may also enhance the aviation museum.
